2008 will be remembered forever by the African Diaspora in America. With mixed feelings we see the mixed man break boundaries and inspire the world with hope that real change for the people will occur in our lifetime.  It appears that Barack Obama has been the catalyst for unprecedented transformation in U.S. politics, and everyone is wondering: will Barack Obama become the first American President of African descent?

The Black L.U.V. Fest’s 2008 Forum Topic: “Reality of the First Black President” will examine the question from a proactive and strategic perspective.  Participants and guest speakers are challenged to discuss not just the problems facing the African Diaspora.  Solutions are the primary focus of this conversation.

“Reality of the First Black President” is a raw and uncut dialogue on the possibilities that lie ahead.  This year’s message for the Black L.U.V. Fest is “Accountability. Change. Take Control” (A.C.T.). Audience participation is encouraged as our guest speakers* offer their answers to questions such as:

  • How will we hold the first black president accountable for his presidency?
  • What expectations do we have for the first black president?
  • How can we capitalize on the spirit of change that has seized the nation?
  • Does Hip-Hop create social change?
  • What specific change do we want the first black president to deliver in the next four years?
  • How do we take control and address environmental concerns?
  • What steps are necessary to stop health concerns like HIV/AIDS, Diabetes, and High Blood Pressure?
  • How do we inspire each other to bring real change to local communities?

*Come back each week for more info on guest speakers.
